Who did you open for in 1972-73 at the Ice Palace. I know it was Steely Dan or the Doobie Brothers or was it both. Some of the best times (John and Mark days) were at "The Kitchen" upstairs at UNLV (NSU at the time) The Weeds - The Scatter Blues all great local bands who could have made it....but didn't for one reason or another. Peace from Ireland
I have all Batdorf and Rodney CDs along with Batdorf and McLean - Silver and last solo effort. Home Again is excellent from start to finish. Nice acoustics and singing. By the way - any plans on putting out guitat tabs for your music.I see that you are playing at Cafe Lena and Town Crier in NYS. I am from the other side of the state near Buffalo. Not sure I can make it out there - although I would like to know what songs you are playing during your shows.Take Care. Tom
hey looked at your website wow want to order the first cd. listened to it and we use to listen to the lp alot and love all the songs nancy
John - Listening to a Doobie Bros. Cd that reminded me of one the songs off the 1st B & R album. Don't know why but at our age flashbacks seem to be a regular thing. So - I Googled Batdorf and Rodney and here I am. I bought your album when heard from buds in Beavercreek about it. Really liked it and shared with people in Montana. Lived there - Missoula - on and off thru the 70's & early 80's. They liked it as well and at that time Montana was full of aspiring musicians so there was credibility. Had been sharing music with this crowd - stuff I'd heard in Ohio and they in turn - were sharing CA - etc. music. One of my roomies stole your album when he moved to N. Mexico. Hope this helped spread the word. Doubt you remember me - but I considered you a friend in Beavercreek. We used to ride together once in a while playing Little League. How many people know you were a pretty good ball player? In school people called me Mondello. Hung around with a few you may remember - Bob Beatty - Paul Kirchner - who convinced to move to Montana - where my mind grew as well as my hair. Saw at least 2 names on this post that were buddies of mine - Bill Sword and Jack Linville. Saw you with Harry Chapin - but a little too backword to say Hi - maybe a little too high to say Hi. I get to listen some of your music on this site as I am a fan. See you're in Portland in Oct. Going to do my best to go - but probably won't say Hi. Too something. I live in Wenatchee - Wa - now - so just a half day drive. Good to see you're still at it!!!
Looking for guitar song sheets for: Can You See Him - One Day - Where Were You & I - Me & My Guitar.
I bought an 8 track of Off the Shelf in college in the early 70's. I've enjoyed your music ever since. I bought the CD's of Batdorf and Rodney a couple years ago. I didn't know you teamed up again. If Batdorf and Rodney ever come to the Cleveland/Columbus area I'd really like to go.
Aloha! Can John or anyone help me with the chords for the break in "Can You See Him"? My buddy wants to play this with me again (after all these years) - and quite frankly I never got those chords right. Thanks!
I am really enjoying your music.I am so glad Steve and Bonnie introduced me to your music...are you ever in the Bay Area ...Otherwise - will catch your shows in SLO or when in Arizona!
John- Great to rediscover your music on CD - especially the early B&R recordings. I remember clearly a dear friend running into the college radio station at William & Mary (while I was "on the air" in 1971-72) shouting that I HAD to play this new killer album he'd discovered. Unfortunately - he was forever lost shortly thereafter (drug OD) - but his memory and your music remain. Thanks for all the pleasure over these years - and PLEASE come to Virginia (or at least the Mid-Atlantic) area sometime - eh? Regards - Rick
Hey John - a while back I figured out how to play Home Again after you told me the tuning. Haven't played it for a while and I can't remember what the tuning was. The CD has on high play mode here for a long time. The coolest thing? listening to my 16 year old son walking around the house singing "All my life - waited for this day....I am home again" If you get a minute and can drop me a note about the tuning it'll save me some of the precious few brain cells I have left. Thanks - Ray Lehotsky
John - Listened to your All Wood and Stones yesterday again and I got to say I still love the sound. My sister was a big fan of your music back in the 70's during your B&R stint. Loved that sound as well. Just a small favor could you send my sister a short email she'd love to hear from you. Below is her address and I'd love to her face when she opens it. I love your music John. Bob Kivi introduced me to it. Looking forward to seeing you perform in the Los Angeles area again.
I first Batdorf and Rodney around 1976. Impressed from the first note. Still listening to my old vinyl:) Surprised to find today after a web search - John is still touring. Would be interested in seeing a Colorado date. Keep the music alive!!!
Just saw you tonight w/ James Lee Stanley and had to say thanks for the music. Bought all your cds. Loved the song Me & You. Rodger
I've Looked for this band for 25 years now with the computer. I'm with you all the way. I had your first 2 albums but lost em. I'M SO GLAD i FOUND YOU AGAIN GREAT MEMORIES...
Glad to see you touring again. I saw you and Mark at the old Shaboo Inn in Willimantic - CT many - many years ago. It was very memorable. Keep on pickin'!
I HAD PURCHASED THE BATDORF&RODNEY ALBUM OVER 30 YEARS AGO IN VINYL AND RECENTLY PULLED IT OUT. IT IS TIMELESS AND STILL A FAVORITE. I PLAY GUITAR ONLY AS A HOBBY AND TRY TO PLAY ALONG. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THE MUSIC SO I DON'T HAVE TO STRUGGLE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT YOUR CHORD PROGRESSIONS?
I have to agree with Jeanette - your music is the best. I listen to all kinds of music but the songs that inspire me the most are yours...always have been!
I have a LP from the 70's and often wondered if there ever would be a CD one day. I was parousing a website for our local place to see what was up and here you were! I am so stoked and will be there Nov 22! Such a trip right here in our lil Tehachapi. I miss listening to your music and look forward to buying the CD's! I'll even play them in my stores! Peace~Klew
