Description
Back in September of 2025, I had a musical idea for a song. I had released “Anthem For The Damned” some months earlier and wasn’t really ready to jump back into the writing mode but I did indeed jump right in. There was so much to write about and so the “Singles” project began with the song “Time Bombs”. Soon after that song was recorded, the writing juices really started revving up so I wrote another song, “Suffering”. Since the song content was so relevant with the times, I decided to release them both as singles. Both songs were very well received with hundreds of radio stations all over the world, I thought why stop now. Next thing you know I wrote “I’ll Stand Ready” and “Just Another Day In Paradise”. These songs were also well received and at that point, I was all in. Next came, “One Tune”, “We Oughta Know By Now” and “People Like Me” written and released as singles. At that point I forged ahead with three more songs. “In The Middle Of It All”, “Puppy Love 2.0”, “Unfamiliar” and I thought I was done. 10 songs was clearly enough to complete the album but from out of the blue, I heard a melody in my head that wouldn’t rest until starting writing it. “Maybe Tomorrow” which I am so proud of and so happy I listened to my heart. It had to be written. My songwriting “brother from a different mother”, Michael McLean co-wrote 9 of these and at last, we have a new album of new songs that wasn’t planned but couldn’t be stopped.
I started this song writing process back when I was 16 and have never stopped. At 74, as long as the songs keep coming, I will keep sharing. Thank you all for a lifetime of support and I hope you enjoy the new music as much as I enjoyed creating it!

That hidden place where all the answers are
For me it’s been so hard to find I guess that I was simply blind
But now it’s shining like a northern star
I thought it was hidden somewhere, until I found it was right there
In the middle of the night, the middle of the fight,
The middle of the questions rising
In the middle of the prayer, and no one seems to care
And everything’s demoralizing
I’ve circled my wagons shaking, protecting my heart that’s breaking
When all the help I need is waiting there for me, in the middle of it all
And when the truth of life returns, that I’ve got so much more to learn
Then something freezes and I can’t move on
And I am tempted to believe, that there is something wrong with me
Til I discover hope is never gone
Be still and there is a feeling, that’s always been there revealing
In the middle of the drought, the middle of the doubt
If you take a leap of faith who’ll catch you
In the middle of a choice, when you can’t hear a voice
You can trust in when you need a rescue
Re-circle those wagons shaking, protecting a heart that’s breaking
Cause all the hope I need is always there for me
In the middle of it all
Every time that I climb
Falling leads to more grieving
When I can’t, carry on
Something’s there that keeps on believing
Surrendering brings the healing the healing, so I can learn what it’s teaching
That all the love I need is always there for me, In the middle of it all
In the middle of it all, In the middle of it all
In the middle of it all, In the middle of it all

Can there be healing without a reckoning the guilty must atone
Which story are we repeating who’s fault are the injuries
Who needs a beating for the mistreating I’m sure it’s them not me…..
Oh and…
(Chorus)
Who’s gonna detonate the time bomb that’s raging in every heart
And who’ll survive, who’ll be alive when the next time bomb ticking starts
Was there a moment somewhere in history Abel was saved by Cain
When will the whole world enter recovery addicted to placing blame
There’s not much hope I am seeing, I’m sure who caused my injuries
Who needs a beating for the mistreating I’m sure it’s them not me…..
Oh and…
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
We are the time bombs we are the time bombs
Who’ll be first to blow the fuse
We are the time bombs we are the time bombs
No matter who goes first and we all will lose
The clock keeps ticking it’s been so sickenin’
Oh….
Chorus) 2xs
Who’s gonna detonate the time bomb
That’s raging in every heart
And who’ll survive who’ll be alive
When the next time bomb ticking starts
Which story am I repeating, who’s fault are the injuries
Who feels the shame, could it be that it’s me

Today the pain is everywhere
But until now I’ve kept it where I could just sidestep the
Suffering more than any one can bear
But now I’m
Carrying a burden that is far too heavy
More than I have known before
And in my new found suffering
Some how my heart’s been expanding
Making room to help you carry……….yours
Today There’s suffering all around the world
And I’m connecting to it all
And from the pain I’m feeling, how can I start the healing
For the victims of the fall
So now I’m
Carrying a burden that is far too heavy
More than I have known before
But in my new found suffering
Some how my heart’s been expanding
Making room to help you carry……….yours
So what about the rain
What about the hope eroding
What about the pain that’s in my heart
What about the rain
What about the hope eroding
My suffering has helped me make a start
So now I’m
Carrying a burden that is far too heavy
More than I have known before
But in my new found suffering
Some how my heart’s been expanding
Making room to help you carry……….yours
What about the rain

Don’t recognize it just who disguised it anyway
Where was the place and what was happening,
When my whole life began rearranging was
I really there and so unaware until today
Don’t know how long I can carry on… this way
Don’t want to live in this world any longer
Don’t want to stay but it’s too soon to leave
Thought if I tried hard enough I could change it
But it’s changing me
I thought we all could share a vision, there’d be a space where every soul was
Free but that place seems farther away than it used to be
It’s getting hard for me to imagine, am I just tired am I lost in the haze
No black or white just some endless stream in shades of gray
Don’t know how long I can carry on… this way
Don’t want to live in this world any longer
Don’t want to stay but it’s too soon to leave
Thought if I tried hard enough I could change it
But it’s changing me 2 xs
All the insanity that goes on endlessly
Is raining down on me
The ocean tides are raising lies
And they are drowning me
All of the weight from all the hate
Is suffocating me

You were heard more than you know
All that was broken unspoken in your praying
Right at the moment you started planning
Steps to relieve all your pain
Ten came an unexpected arrival saying, saying
Maybe tomorrow, or the day after
Let’s hold each other until then
When all the sorrow, turns into laughter
I’ll be right there with you my friend
Cuz I’ve been here all along
Don’t let go of me, keep holding on
Love has a way of searching every heart
That is buried in fear
Love has a way of choosing the perfect timing
Right near the end of a final amen then
Ambushing you by surprise
It’s such a feeling, beginning a healing finding reminding
Maybe tomorrow, or the day after
Let’s hold each other until then
When all the sorrow, turns into laughter
I’ll be right there with you my friend
Cuz I’ve been here all along
Don’t let go of me, keep holding on
Instrumental
Maybe tomorrow, or the day after
Let’s hold each other until then
When all the sorrow, turns into laughter
I’ll be right there with you my friend
Maybe tomorrow. or the day after
Let’s hold each other until then
When all the sorrow. turns into laughter
I’ll be right there with you my friend
Don’t let go of me, keep holding on

I feel so lucky that my dreams came true
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise
I’m writin’ music like it’s goin’ out of style
When I hear it on the radio it makes me smile
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise…. Paradise
I’m wonderin’ how good fortune found me
I’m glad that all the bad luck’s way behind me
I love my wife and I love my kids
There’s somethin’ special ‘bout the life we’ve lived
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise
Solo
And here’s to all the people listening
And those who don’t, don’t know what you’ve been missing
This fish are still jumpin’ and the sky’s still blue
I get this same feeling when I look at you
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise
I’m feelin’ happy ‘cos I’ve lived the dream
I got to play guitar and love to sing
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise
Just another day, just another day here in Paradise

Are all the things I once believed in, are not true after all
Once a true believer, now everything seems flawed
Holding on to sanity’s like clinging to a wall
But I’ll stand ready, I am determined
My hands are steady, and my eyes are opened wide
If we’re not ready, freedom just might slip away
One day we’ll wake up, with freedom gone
And we’ll wonderin’, where did we go wrong
Before this all got started, I thought I’d seen it all
I kept thinkin’ how’s this happening to us, if there is a God
I got so heavy hearted, And couldn’t hear the call
My heart was trying to tell me, that Freedom can’t be bought
So I stand ready, I am determined
My hands are steady, and my eyes are opened wide
If we’re not ready, freedom just might slip away
One day we’ll wake up, with freedom gone
And we’ll keep wondering, where did we go wrong
From the day that I was born in the USA
I pledged my allegiance to my country everyday
So I’ll stand ready, I’ll stand determined
My hands are steady, and my eyes are opened wide
So I’ll be ready, No I won’t be denied ‘cos
One day we’ll wake up and he’ll be gone
But we’ll keep wonderin’, why’d it take so long
We stand for freedom, We stand for liberty
We stand for justice, As we cling to Democracy
We are one people, but somehow we lost our way
One day we’ll wake up and he’ll be gone
And we’ll keep wonderin’, why’d it take so long

one weird relationship
I can’t win,
And it’s so complicated that I
Spin and spin
It never ends and it’s feeling like
I’m just chasing my tail
She’s got some
Kind of disorder
That can be fun
Til it Turns into horror and then
Turns again
Sweet and adorable
Acting like we are falling in love
It’s just like we are falling in love
Over and over the songs the same
Promises made in the evening
Then she walks out at the break of day
Don’t know why she’s leaving
I have tried
Greeting her happily
Then I hide
Until She chases after me
And when she cries
I snuggle tenderly cuddling up like a ball in her lap
I stay there all the way through her nap
Over and over the songs the same
Promises made in the evening
Then she walks out at the break of day
Don’t know why she’s leaving
Tell me what she’s feeling
On our walks she stops and must be
Worried I am not healing
Must she always tell me HEAL
Like I have not really been listening
I’m stuck in
one weird relationship
I can’t win,
And it’s so complicated that I
Spin and spin
It never ends and it’s feeling like
I’m just chasing my tail
Instrumental
Over and over the songs the same
Promises made in the evening
Then she walks out at the break of day
Don’t know why she’s leaving
I’m stuck in
one weird relationship
I can’t win,
And it’s so complicated that I
Spin and spin
It never ends and it’s feeling like
I’m just chasing my tail
Feeling Llke I’m just chasing my tail

(but) After the water was splashed on my face
There in the mirror I saw something weirder
(than)I’d seen before standing in that placeWho were they
staring at me
those faces that were framing mineI didn’t know them but they seemed familiar
(and) I knew what they all hoped to findMostly all those smiling faces were trying
To show me something that I should have known
They’d all been hiding somewhere inside me
Til they could reveal that I’m not alone
Who are they
Staring at me
Those faces looking more like mine
I must have known them cause they seemed familiar
And I knew what they all hoped to find
Kind of lost and kind of broken
Searching for words that rarely are spoken
Needing more friends and less enemies
Is most of the world just people like me?
Walking down main street who’s this that I’m seeing
The faces that smiled at me before dawn
They’re everywhere and none of them scare me
Thank God I found we’re not aloneE

That brings a magic healing
This would be it, this one just fits
Bringing back all the feelings
That turned me around when I was down
And my heart had stopped believing
What should I call this melody
That always rescues me
Where is it from, this tune I hum
That brings such calm inside me
And it remains, always the same
Whispering things to guide me
To where I should go and who I should know
That friend who walks right beside me
What should I call this melody
That always rescues me
Instrumental
Often the words need not be heard
Music alone’s revealing
You are the truest melody that always rescues me
You are the one true melody that always rescues me
Track 11 – WE OUGHTA KNOW BY NOW
Lyrics + Credits
© 2026 John Batdorf. All rights reserved.
We don’t do well apart
4 hours fifty five minutes and maybe
This time we’ll heal our hearts
I don’t know if we ought to keep trying
Our track record says no
How long will we both keep on denying
We oughta know by now
Say what you wanna say
Tell me you’re gonna stay
This time we’ll both make it last
What has our record been
Til we blow up again
Why are we always repeating the past
I know nothing else matters
And I know the why and the how
Our hearts keeping being shattered
We oughta know by now
Is it madness or just our relapsing
An addiction for sure
How can both of us keep on collapsing
Still craving something more
Say what you wanna say
Tell me you’re gonna stay
This time we’ll both make it last
What has our record been
Til we blow up again
Why are we always repeating the past
I know nothing else matters
And I know the why and the how
Our hearts keeping being shattered
We oughta know by now
Who knows what’s the truth and the secret
We just keep on being so blind
How long until we both discover
What it seems we don’t know how to find
